Members Choice Names Fourteen 2020 Scholarship
Members Choice Credit Union recently awarded fourteen scholarships to help student member-owners meet higher education goals.
Members Choice began establishing scholarship funds about two decades ago to benefit member-owners attaining a post-secondary education. Members Choice received more than 50 applications for this year's awards. Members Choice Scholarship Program has awarded $131,000 to date. The 2020 Scholarship Program will award an additional $14,000, bringing our total to $145,000 awarded to local students.
Inspired by the Board of Directors, the scholarship is to encourage graduating high school students to pursue their post-secondary education, the Members Choice Scholarship Program helps off-set rising tuition costs for students and their families. "We are committed to advancing the economic strength of local counties," said Cheryl Deborde, Members Choice Credit Union President, and CEO. "These scholarships help local students gain the knowledge and skills needed to fill local jobs and become contributing members of their communities. This next generation of young professionals will play a significant role in the continued growth of our local and state economies. We want to help in giving them all the opportunities available to advance their education and enhance their careers."
"This year's applicants showed an impressive caliber of accomplishment, which makes selecting winners that much tougher. The level of leadership and enthusiasm was enormous," said Don Neikirk, Scholarship Committee Chairperson. "We congratulate Members Choice 2020 scholarship winners for continued excellence in their schools and communities."
